Hello Everyone…I am a bit late today on this post as I have been recording my book for the last three days for Random House Audio Books. It was complete and total torture. I found out how many words I don’t pronounce properly. We finally got finished this afternoon. Right now I am at the hospital waiting for my wife Priscilla to come out of surgery. The doctor just gave me an update and all is well. Thank goodness for my trusty Day-Timer. I have been busier this week than anytime I can remember. By taking time to think and plan I am getting through the week pretty well.
We are so busy that we don’t take the time to THINK. We just get up and go in the morning, and the next thing you know it is evening.
This becomes a routine cycle for us; and before you know it, another year has passed and we have not accomplished many things that we deep down want to achieve. We want to become better technically, or we want to become a better manager, or we want to learn more about technology, or we want to become a better leader, or we want to read more, or we want to improve our tennis game, or we want to work on our personal financial situation, or we want to improve our training methods, and on and on.
The main reason we don’t get a lot of these things accomplished is that we don’t take a few minutes every day to THINK about, in a quiet place, what we need to be working on today, tomorrow, this week, this month, and this year . . . so we can work those things into our schedule and begin to get them done. We talk a lot about this in the bimonthly Time Management seminar that I teach.
Just taking some time to sit back and THINK for a few minutes every day can bring great results in all parts of your life. I think it was Yogi Berra who said that if you don’t know where you are going, then you will get there. The problem is that you might get to the wrong place. Well, he said something like this . . . or someone did, and it is true. Figuring out where you want to go is the most important part of the trip. There are lots of people who can help you get there once that first part is done.
So, find a quiet place every day and THINK for a while before you start your day; and you will see immediate improvements in your ability to attain your goals in life, whatever they may be, I THINK! . . . Lee
PS: Here is a list of things to THINK about from time to time:
- Your responsibilities at work.
- Your responsibilities at home.
- Your responsibilities at your place of worship.
- Your responsibilities in the community.
- Your retirement.
- Your personal development.
- Your health.
- Your exercise schedule.
- Your diet.
- Your loved ones.
- Your direct reports.
- Your kids.
- Your social activities.
- Your commitments to others.
- Your checkups for teeth, eyes, and body.
I am sure there are many more, but this will give you a good start if you need something to “THINK” about! . . . Lee
